Free Lecture ~ “Experiencing Heaven Now”

Experiencing Heaven Now Flyer

Experiencing heaven now

In college, I was suddenly hit with a feeling of being disconnected and alone. Maybe it was because I was the only female physics major. Maybe it was because my work schedule meant I was seeing less of my friends. Whatever the reason, I knew that a change in circumstances wouldn’t solve anything. It was at that point that spirituality became of primary importance in helping me find a lasting solution. For me, spirituality means our connectedness to God and whatever practice we have that helps us recognize that. So perhaps it’s not surprising that one day, after an insight about God and the ever-presence of God’s love dawned on me, the disconnect vanished. Since then, I’ve felt a conviction that divine Love is here for me, and for everyone.

In spite of the hyper-connectedness of social media and technology, we live in an era in which many are feeling this same disconnect. We all yearn to find meaningful relationships, or a more lasting connection with peace, contentment, even health. In my lecture, I’ll discuss how anyone can become genuinely aware of God’s presence and experience heaven–harmony, health, and happiness–here and now.

I’ll also share how the study of the Bible, and a book that explains the healing relevance of the Bible, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, can open up a new meaning of heaven to each of us. This heaven isn’t a place, but a tangible feeling of being enveloped in love and spirituality that comes from understanding more about God. We’ll explore the new perspectives that come from this understanding of God–healing perspectives that can resolve all kinds of difficulties, and transform our lives for good.

A Spiritual Revolution: The Quest to Experience God

IS THERE A SPIRITUAL REVOLUTION

CHANGING HOW PEOPLE EXPERIENCE LIFE?

Have you ever asked yourself, Is there more to life than what I am experiencing? How do I find a deeper, lasting, and more satisfying peace or happiness that might fill the emptiness inside?

A free talk and discussion, “A Spiritual Revolution: The Quest to Experience God,” explores the search for individual meaning in relation to an expansive source of goodness: God.

Speaker Giulia Nesi has spent years studying the subject of life and identity for heGiulia Nesirself and others, first as a psychotherapist and subsequently through cultivating an understanding of spirituality as a practitioner of Christian Science healing.

“Despite professional accomplishments in psychotherapy and having achieved everything I had been told would make me happy, I still had this empty feeling inside, and felt dissatisfied and restless,” Nesi shared recently. “I wanted to feel and actually experience a power or influence that was larger than what I knew, and that I could lean on this power no matter what I was dealing with.”

In the talk, Nesi will share how she experienced a “spiritual revolution” in her own life by reading the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of the Christian Science movement. The ideas in the book, along with a fresh view of the Bible, gave her an entirely new perspective on life that resulted in deeper meaning and even physical healings, not only for herself but also for others. In this role she has served on the faculty and conducted seminars at Harvard Medical School’s Conference Spirituality and Healing in Medicine. She is now a member of the international speakers’ bureau, the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Lecture “Humility that ‘Overcomes the World'”

Humility is powerful?

True humility empowers us to do good and overcome evil

Mark McCurties, practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker, will present his talk, “Humility that ‘overcomes the world’,” on Sunday, November 17 at 2pm at the Northwest Library, Meeting Room B, located at 5600 NW 122nd Street, Oklahoma City, OK, 73412.  The talk focuses on universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible, especially in Christ Jesus’ life and teachings, and shows how they are available for anyone to understand and experience through the lens of Christian Science. The talk is free, open to the community, and sponsored by Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, Oklahoma City.

“A central theme of Christ Jesus’ ministry was to teach and show that the power of God’s love can help us overcome the various injustices in the world,” McCurties says. “Yet, for all the remarkable healing work that Jesus did, he always gave the credit to God. Based on Jesus’ example, we will define true humility, how it links us to God, and how it connects us with God’s healing laws. There is great need for healing in the world today, and living with more Christ-like humility can help us to meet that demand.”

McCurties will share healings to explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves. The practice is fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement, Mary Baker Eddy.

McCurties will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy, and how she came to understand, confirm, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus’ demand, “He that believes on me, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do, because I go unto my Father” (from the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible).

Mark McCurties has been a Christian Science practitioner for many years, daily helping people through this scientific approach to prayer. He travels from his home base in Michigan, to speak to audiences as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

The lecture is free, open to the public, and will last approximately one hour.  Childcare will be provided.

Breaking News: Freedom is ours NOW

Breaking News!
The kind of news that makes a difference

Sources of good news can be hard to find these days. Reading the headlines might make us want to curl up with cute animal videos online to cope! So where can we turn for the news that doesn’t shy away from problems, but lifts our view to help us make permanent progress?

“What we’re looking for,” says practitioner of Christian Science healing, Patricia Woodard, “is a view that uplifts our thoughts, changing our perspective to one that makes a difference for the better, that heals. To me, this is what Christian Science is about: finding a spiritual perspective of God that reveals the goodness, wellness, and freedom flowing from God every day, helping those take tangible and reliable shape in our lives and the lives of others. That’s the ultimate good news!”

Woodard will give a talk, “BREAKING NEWS: FREEDOM IS OURS NOW”, Thursday, October 3rd at 7:30pm at the Museum of Biblical Art 7500 Park Lane, Dallas 75225.  Her lecture will explore the practicality in today’s world of Christ Jesus’ life and works as recorded in the Bible and as discussed in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement, Mary Baker Eddy.

“I’ll share the way Christian Science has brought healing to my own life,” says Woodard, “rescuing me from a troubling situation with my teenage daughter and freeing me from the effects of an accident. and I’ll also give examples of how it has helped others from different walks of life.”

Woodard explains, “The common thread through these experiences is a clearer view of the reality of God’s good news that God derived freedom is inherently ours now, releasing us from fear and pain in our lives and causing us to soar!”

Patricia WoodardFor many years, Patricia Woodard has been a Christian Science practitioner, praying with people for divine help and healing.  She loves to travel and has lived in many parts of the US and twice in Brazil. Each new culture and environment has taught her more about God, universal Love, and how all people are made to reflect God’s goodness.  More recently, Woodard has been active in taking the healing ministry to those in the prison system in Dallas, Texas, where she now resides.

Free talk “A new view of God and its effect on well-being”

Free Lecture April 4th

Join Christian Science lecturer and healer, Phillip Hockley for his talk on “A new view of God and its effect on well-being”, Thursday, April 4th at 7:30pm at the Museum of Biblical Art.

From Phillip Hockley…
“Although humble beginnings and hard knocks taught me the value of being honest and hard working, for oneself and others, it did not last long into adult life. Rapid success in business and a hard-partying lifestyle led to an increasing sense of inner emptiness and led into a pathway of drink and drugs.

In the early 1990s a fall that badly injured the spine started a seven year downward spiral of ill health. By 1999, after trying every alternative and spiritual healing method, without any cure, I was registered as physically handicapped.

During those years of physical decline, I researched many religions and forms of spirituality, eventually focusing my time on mindfulness practices. This helped me be aware of the painful body without reacting with fear. Thus, by remaining equanimous, I could choose to be happy instead of fearful.

This attitude of “broken body—happy mind” was present at the time I felt very strongly attracted to attend my first ever Christian Science lecture—against my own best judgment at the time!

What happened to me at that lecture was truly transformational. Not only was I healed of all my diseases at that event but also, more importantly, I was healed of my hardness towards the message of the Bible—telling us of God’s great love for each one of us. Christian Science explains the Bible promises so clearly. To me, the greatest of the promises is that we can all feel and live with this divine love, a heavenly love, here and now.

From that moment on I knew I had found something very special and could hardly wait to explain this experience to others—this ability to love and be loved by God.
I had gone to the lecture with no expectations but I left with no limitations.

There’s no question that I was jubilant about the way my life was being transformed. But what impressed me the most was finding out that these kinds of breakthroughs aren’t one-time, personal miracles. God’s love is available to everyone, and there’s even a textbook on Christian Science healing that explains the power of God’s love in our lives: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

…what I’ll share in my lecture, is that the perspective of God and reality that Christian Science opens up is one that offers freedom from whatever in our lives seems painful, debilitating, or limiting. I’ll talk about a 19th-century woman, Mary Baker Eddy, who, after a life-threatening injury, discovered this new view of God for herself and went on to explain her discovery and its Bible-based principles in her book Science and Health. And I’ll share how that discovery is still relevant to our lives today because of what it reveals about God’s great love for each of us and its powerful, life-transforming effects.”

Free talk, “Making Meaningful Change: How God’s Love Can Change Your Life And The World”

Talk “Making meaningful change: How God’s love can change your life and the world”

We live in a world where millions of people are striving to make change for the better. So, in a world seeking positive change, how do we make sure that such change actually happens? Speaker Mark McCurties says, “We all have a natural desire to improve ourselves and the world around us.  In my own life I’ve found that letting God, divine Love, guide and direct my efforts brings permanent and meaningful results.”

McCurties, a practitioner of Christian Science healing, will present a talk titled, How God’s love can change your life and the world” on Thursday, February 21st, 7:00 PM at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd., Fort Worth, TX 76107

“The desire to change ourselves, to improve our character, our relationships, our life prospects can also go beyond just the boundary of our own lives and the four walls of our home. Many men and women around the world have a sincere yearning to improve the collective experience of mankind,” says McCurties. “In this lecture, I will explain how God’s loving and saving power is the greatest agent for change, and that through a right understanding of God, His power can be seen and felt right here and now, bringing health and peace to the world.”

The ideas in this lecture are based on the teachings of Jesus as recorded in the Bible, and as discussed in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.

McCurties has had a life-long love of the Bible and its inspiring message of individual triumph over adversity. After graduating from college he spent a number of years in the field of education where he worked as a camp director, experiential educator, resident counselor, and athletics coach. While working with young people, he had many opportunities to witness the healing power of God, and these inspiring experiences eventually led him into the full-time public practice of Christian Science.

Mark McCurties is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. He travels from his home in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
