Barbara Vining and Kim Korinek have inspired us to write for the Christian Science periodicals.
We discussed our motive for writing: letting your unique voice be heard.
Think about the audience to whom you are writing. We are not writing just for other Christian Scientists and this is not just a record of your personal experience. We are writing for the world. We are writing for our neighbor who knows nothing about Christian Science. We are writing to share our love for God, man and Christian Science. In writing, we are speaking heart to heart.
Kim and Barbara share many ways to get an idea started like starting with the title, an outline, or a central idea. Find your point and stick to it, expand it, try writing as if you are writing a letter to God, to the world, or to a loved one. Let Spirit speak to you.
Editing! On the face of it, no one likes to be edited. But we all need it. Mrs Eddy edited and reedited her own work many times. In the meeting we looked into a few very funny misstatements that were not caught in editing. Love the editing process.
We had two 15 minute writing sessions and time to ask questions.
There will be another chance to ask questions regarding your articles in hand on June 11 when we will offer some group editing in a Skype session with Barbara and Kim for more questions.
Please feel free to come and bring your rough drafts.
